Debating & Public Speaking

Mackellar Girls Campus provides the opportunity for girls from any year to participate in the school debating and public speaking teams. Both of these activities are organised by the English staff.

Debating

There are debating teams for every year at school and they all compete in local, regional and zone competitions. Each year the debating teams go to Sydney University to the Conference day held for all schools in the state and they provide training to enhance debating skills.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is open to all year groups at school and provide the opportunity to improve public speaking skills as well as interaction skills with others. There are competitions like the 'Legacy' competition as well as more local competitions against public and private schools. The competitions involve a prepared speech and an impromptu speech.
